Monterey Area Common Sense – Safety Tips Yes, you can get sunburned on a foggy day! Dress in layers and always have a warm jacket and water with you Water temperature is very cold compared to many beaches Waves can be VERY DANGEROUS at the beach- riptides! ROGUE WAVES – HUGE unexpected waves with a strong undertow – have caused deaths – Stinging nettlefish can be found in some waters Seagulls and other wildlife can be aggressive Raccoons are not always “cute” – they carry diseases and can be very hostile Poison Oak is very common in forests and hiking/biking areas

ERGONOMICS 3 Seek assistance before fatigue & discomfort become painful. What is the right way to lift something? Do it Fast or Do it Right?
