Presentation transcript:

 I’ve been teaching at MRI for 5 years now.  I graduated from Shepherd University.  My husband teaches in Berkeley County as well.  I have a soon to be 1 year old daughter.  I’m excited for this school year and getting to know everyone.

 Students are able to be dropped off at 8:15 a.m.  Tardy bell is 8:45 a.m.  Bus dismissal is 3:15 p.m.

 We have a new reading series this year.  Spelling and English will be incorporated into the reading story. There will no longer be individual English and Spelling books.  There will be a weekly story, followed by a test to wrap up the week.  In writing we will be working on developing a 5 paragraph essay.

 There will be a weekly list that students will write in their planners.  Tests will be on Friday. After the test is taken we will write their new spelling words in for the next week.

 We will be switching for math after Unit 1.  There will most likely be homework every night for math.  Please continue to practice multiplication facts.

 Your student’s Social Studies book is used as their workbooks as well, so there will not be many worksheets coming home for this subject.  These subjects will be covered in units where we will spend a good amount of time in each unit. During the units, you will be given assignments and from those your grade will be determined.

 Call the school  Send me a message on Engrade  me-this is the best way to reach me. I try to check it twice a day, in the morning and afternoon.  Also messages in planners. Students will write homework assignments, tests, and important dates into their planners. Please check each night and initial the planner. I will check each student’s planner in the morning.

 Please make sure you have 2 emergency contacts for your student.  Also please make sure you complete the little internet box on the back of the form. This allows the to get on to the internet for computer class and throughout the year.  If you wish to be a chaperone please sign up and you must be board approved.

 You can access newsletters, upcoming events, the daily schedule, and other important information on our classroom webpage.  You can get to this webpage by going to our school website and clicking on my name to visit our classrooms webpage.  in/151 in/151
