Get Ready to visit Hawk Mountain!

What is a SANCTUARY? Unlike some parks, Hawk Mountain Sanctuary is a place where EVERYTHING is protected – plants, animals, sticks, rocks, and even the air is protected. You won’t find garbage cans since we practice PACK IN/PACK OUT. We ask that all visitors stay on the trails and keep their voices low so they don’t disturb others who are also enjoying the Sanctuary.

What should you bring to Hawk Mountain? * Sturdy shoes/hiking boots/ NO flip flops * Dress for the weather, layers, & raingear * Backpacks for hands-free hiking * Sunscreen/hat * Bottled water for hydration * Packed lunch with bag for trash * Sense of wonder!

What to expect on a MOUNTAIN DISCOVERY field trip 3-4 hour fully-guided visit 30 – 45 minute introductory presentation - Meet a LIVE raptor - Migration Ecology - Geography/Kittatiny Ridge - Data collection techniques - Conservation History Hike to a Lookout given time constraints Explore an Appalachian forest

What to expect from a Raptors Over the Ridge Introduction 30 – 45 minute presentation on: Migration Ecology Geography/Kittatiny Ridge Conservation History Explore on your own! OPTIONS INCLUDE: LIVE Raptor Guided Walk to South Lookout

What else can I expect to do during my visit? Inside the Visitors Center, check out the Wings of Wonder Gallery, interactive Migration Map, Bookstore/Giftshop, Bird feeder observation areas and more. Outside, visit the Native Plant Garden, pond, bird blind and multiple lookouts!

As a non-profit, member-support organization, we appreciate your support. Every trail fee, bookstore and membership purchase helps us meet our mission to conserve raptors. Your visit makes a difference.
