History Armenians and Turks had lived in the Ottoman Empire for hundreds of years. The Ottoman Empire was breaking apart and the Muslim Turks wanted to get rid of the Christian Armenians and create an entirely Islamic State

What was the Armenian Genocide? The mass deportation and killing of the Armenians by the Ottoman Empire. It took place from and Approximately 1.5 million out of a total 2 million Armenians living in the Ottoman Empire were killed.

What Happened Armenians were rounded up, deported, sent to die in the desert and in some cases slaughtered by the Turkish government. Women and children were also raped and killed. It wiped out the Armenian population in that part of the world.
