What`s an international language? Concept It is a language of wider communication both among individuals from different countries and between individuals from one country. English is an International Language because its recognition and the number of users. Mandarib, Arabic and Hindi are not considered International Languages because they are not spoken by a large number of native speakers of other languages

Kachru`s categorization of countries in which English is used Expanding Circle: English is studied as a foreign language Outer Cricle: English is the second language in a multilingual country. Inner Circle: English is the primary language in the country.

Features of an International Language International language and culture Do not need to internaliza the cultural norms. International L. is de- nationalized Learners comunicate their ideas and culture (Smith,1976)

Central featuresin the development of an international language It is the product of the development of a world econocultural system It establishes itself alongside local language in multilingual contexts. It is learned by various levels of society. It spreads by many individuals acquiring the language.
