Think Dots Activity Sheets Maranda Burnett MGED 3130

Activity Notes Think Dots are used in this activity to review a topic. The cards can be printed from each powerpoint slide. Orange or Blue: Blue Cards are on-level, Orange Cards are advanced. Students are divided into pairs. They are responsible for completing 4 of the 6 activities. I chose to create a Think Dots activity because I have never made one before and I would definitely use it in the classroom. Especially because we own lots of six-sided dice. Seriously, they’re everywhere!

Activity Notes Continued Each question corresponds with a level of Bloom’s Taxonomy <- 6 <- 5 <- 4 <- 3 <- 2 <- 1

Standard SS8G1 The student will describe Georgia with regard to physical features and location. a. Locate Georgia in relation to region, nation, continent, and hemispheres. b. Describe the five geographic regions of Georgia; include the Blue Ridge Mountains, Valley and Ridge, Appalachian Plateau, Piedmont, and Coastal Plain. c. Locate and evaluate the importance of key physical features on the development of Georgia; include the Fall Line, Okefenokee Swamp, Appalachian Mountains, Chattahoochee and Savannah Rivers, and barrier islands. d. Evaluate the impact of climate on Georgia’s development.

BLUE CARDS

Dice Roll: Activity One Label the five geographical regions of Georgia on your activity sheet. List two physical traits for each.

Dice Roll: Activity Two Give 2 examples of how Georgia’s transportation systems provide jobs for our state.

Dice Roll: Activity Three Choose one of the physical features of Georgia that we have learned about. Create a postcard with a image showing what you know or predict that region should look like. On the letter part of the postcard write a brief explanation about where it is located and how it impacts the state

Dice Roll: Activity Four Locate the population map and the climate map on your activity sheet. Based on what you have learned about Georgia’s climate, why do you think the population is distributed the way it is?

Dice Roll: Activity Five Compare two physical features of Georgia in terms of location, physical traits, and impact on the surrounding population.

Dice Roll: Activity Six ROAD TRIP! You will be planning a tour through the state of Georgia! Choose three destinations you will visit on your trip. These locations can be any physical feature, geographic region, or even tourist attraction we have discussed in class. On your own sheet of paper create your tour plan. Where will you visit first? What do you plan to see while on your trip? Make sure to staple your plan to your activity sheet before you everything in!
