Printmaking Studio ArtMr. Uhl

What is printmaking? It has the ability to make more than one of a specific image in a limited edition. The artist will use some sort of stencil or plate to print or layer a color or colors.

What is a linocut or a woodcut? A woodcut or linocut was the earliest form of printmaking and involves a significant amount of drawing. It first appeared in China in the 9 th century, then in Europe around Albrecht Durer became one of the most famous lino cut artists. His work is very religious oriented, why? It is a relief form of printmaking, meaning ink is applied to the surface and only the raised areas will print. A simple example of relief printing is a rubber stamp pressed into a stamp pad and pressed onto a piece of paper.
