Current Initiative: R Youth Humanitarian Technology Conference 23-Jun-163 Project Objective: To excite and increase student / GOLD membership activities in Region 2 by extending technological solutions and ideas to real life humanitarian problems. Project Leader: Channon Young. –The premier student activities chair at Towson University –Attendee of the Global Humanitarian Technology Conference in Seattle. Timeline: –Constrained to the final quarter of 2012 (or before) Resources: –Budget estimate not yet available –Kartik Kulkarni (from the IEEE Humanitarian Activities Committee, recently moved in to Pittsburgh) Measure of success: Attendance / Continuity

Upcoming Joint Event: USA Science and Engineering Festival in DC. April 28 th – 29 th, Jun-164 Opportunity to highlight IEEE GOLD to the technology and student community in the environ. Challenges & Opportunities 23-Jun-165 Challenges: –Resource availability –Low turn-out at events –Inactive GOLD AGs Opportunities –More student oriented activities –More career-oriented workshops (that speaks tangible value to the member) –Bridging the gap between employee and employer for GOLD members seeking employment.  This should a main advantage of membership. –Continue to ‘invest’ in active GOLD / Student representatives
