Genocide Mass killings in the 20 th Century

Armenian Genocide Location – Ottoman Empire Dates – 1915 to 1923 Victims – Armenian Christians Aggressor – Turkish Muslims

Armenian Genocide Issue: –A group called “The Young Turks” took over the Ottoman Empire and began to eliminate any non-Turkish people.

Armenian Genocide –Armenians were falsely accused of joining the Ottoman’s enemy (Russia) in World War One.

Turkish soldiers stand proudly with the heads of Armenian leaders.

Armenian Genocide Outcome: –2 million Armenians killed. –Thousands more = refugees.

–To this day, the Turkish government denies that the genocide ever took place.

Cambodian Genocide Location – Cambodia –(Southeast Asia) Dates – 1975 – 1979 Victims – Cambodian civilians Aggressor – Khmer Rouge
