Your Proposed Enterprise Agreement The NSW and ACT Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2015 Employees in NSW

› A new Enterprise Agreement has been negotiated by your employers and the Independent Education Union. › Shortly, you will have an opportunity to vote. › The proposed Agreement combines eight industrial instruments into one common framework for employees working in Catholic Systemic Schools in NSW and the ACT. › Many of your current arrangements would continue. › Following a successful vote, this Agreement will come into effect 7 days after the approval by the Fair Work Commission and will remain until 31 December Your proposed Agreement explained

Who does it cover? Teachers and General Employees who are employed to work in Catholic Systemic Schools in NSW and the ACT, including Registered School or Trades Skill Centre. Who is defined as a General Employee? › School Operational Services › School Administrative Services › Classroom and Learning Support Services Your proposed Agreement explained

Pay increases Teachers working in NSW › 2.27% from the first full pay period on or after 1 January 2015 › 2.5% from the first full pay period on or after 1 January 2016 From 2016, General Employees will receive wage increases at the same time as teachers, in January › 2.27% from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2015 and › 2.5% from the first full pay period on or after 1 January 2016 Covered by a modern award? › 2.5% pay increase from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2015 (consistent with the National Minimum Wage decision) › 2.5% from the first full pay period on or after 1 January 2016 Your proposed Agreement explained

Key changes include: › A standards-based classification structure to help Teachers prepare for accreditation with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers. › Clear support for graduate Teachers to meet their accreditation requirements. › Clarity around the expectation for Teachers to be encouraged and supported by their employer to engage in professional learning and development. › Fair pay and conditions for General Employees in one classification structure. › A statement outlining the mission and Catholic identity of NSW and ACT Catholic Systemic Schools. Personal/carer’s leave › New personal/carer’s leave provisions for Teachers and General Employees to accrue uncapped at 15 days a year. › Additional one-off upfront allocation of 15 days for existing teachers in 2016 and an additional upfront 15 days for all new teachers. › More leave options for General Employees including community service leave, exam and study leave, military reserve leave, unpaid leave to work in an overseas volunteer program. › Evidence requirements for taking personal/carer’s leave have been relaxed. › Access to leave for unexpected emergencies and an additional day of special leave for scheduled family commitments. › An additional week of paid leave for the non-primary caregiver upon the birth or adoption of a child. A new standards-based structure will commence on 1 January From this date, the new structure would apply to Teachers employed in NSW/ACT Catholic Systemic Schools from 1 January Teachers employed prior to 1 January 2014 will continue on the existing incremental scale, and will transition over time to the new structure. No teacher will be disadvantaged by the transition. Your proposed Agreement explained New Teacher classification structure

Conditionally Accredited, Level 1 & 2 Band 1 (Graduate) Band 2 (Proficient Teacher) Level Band 3 (Highly Accomplished) Your proposed Agreement explained A Teacher in the process of completing an approved initial teacher education program. A Teacher who has completed all course requirements of an approved initial teacher education program and is working towards achieving accreditation at Proficient Teacher. New Teacher classification structure A Teacher who has attained proficient teacher accreditation, and has performed a minimum of two years of full time service in a registered school. A Teacher who has achieved and is maintaining accreditation at Highly Accomplished with the relevant TAA.

New classification structure for General Employees Three occupational streams: › School Operational Services › School Administrative Services › Classroom and Learning Support Services Each stream contains levels containing one or more steps and progression is based on 12 months service. More information on indicative duties and competencies are listed in the proposed agreement. Employees would transfer to the new structure from the commencement date. No one will be worse off as a result of the transition. Your proposed Agreement explained

Progressing to a vote Consultation sessions taking place with all staff in NSW/ACT Australian Election Company has been appointed to conduct the vote. The Returning Officer will be Mr. Richard Kidd – contactable on Voting Period - 7am Monday 27 July to 5pm Sunday 2 August, You will receive instructions on how to vote by Internet and Telephone.
