Blocked spouting, guttering, down pipes and drains must be kept clear (The water often ends up in the soffit or plastic spouting breaks from overloading, general water blockages become a breeding ground for mould on soffits, spouting, walls and pathways) 7. Keeping floors sealed in bathrooms, kitchens and laundries is a must (Gluing down curled up lino in a bathroom is a lot cheaper than replacing rotten wooden flooring) 8. Keeping wet areas sealed around kitchen benches, bathes, hand basins, showers and laundry tubs is also a must (A lot of damage can occur in just 3 months, a bit of silicon and enamel paint can be a lot cheaper than replacing units, wallboard or structural framework) 9. Aged or moldy exterior paintwork around windows and weatherboards (Allows moisture to soak into woodwork and should be sealed to prevent premature aging) Hot water systems, relief valves, pressure reducing valves and hot water cylinders that are aged or faulty (This type of water leak often overflows out a roof pipe and goes into the spouting unnoticed, hot water cylinders if replaced when seeping can avoid a major blowout and a consequent flood)
