Pigment & Binder Pigment: finely ground, colored powders that form paint when mixed with liquid Binder: liquid that holds together grains of pigment In commercially made watercolor paints, the binder is either natural gum arabic or synthetic glycol. This is what holds the pigment in suspension. The binder also allows the pigment to adhere to the support (e.g. paper)

Paper Weight For watercolor use, it ranges from 140 lb to 300 lb. Cold Press: mildly rough texture Hot Press: extremely smooth Rough: coarse texture » Prices for Watercolor paper can range up to $15+ per sheet
