SEED BUSINESS MANAGEMENT COURSE 2015: 13 TH - 18 TH JULY, 2015

The Seed Enterprise Management Institute (SEMIs) project at CAVS held its 6 th International training on Seed Business Management Course from 13 th - 18 th July The course was attended by 30 senior level management personnel from different seed companies representing 13 African countries which included; Burkina Faso, Congo DRC, Ethiopia, Ghana, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania and Ghana.

Prof. F. Olubayo remarked while opening the training, that the course focused on equipping participants with strong business management skills, human resource management and financial management skills. On his part, Prof. Evans. Aosa from the School of Business, UoN and one of the course co-ordinators challenged the Seed company owners and CEO’s present to raise their companies from national status to international standards. He further urged the seed participants to be great strategists in business adding that where there is no vision, businesses perish.

Among other facilitators to the course were Aline O’connor Funk and Dr. V. Machuki. Participants were also advised on how to manage a seed enterprise by Mr. Azaria Soi, General Manager, SimLaw Seeds. Prof. G. Wainaina, MD Vision 2030 similarly inspired the attendees on how to be successful in business and life in total. Visit to Dryland Seed Company was an eye opener to attendees on how small seed businesses grow with right strategy and proper execution of the strategies.
