CLBv2 issues Diego Real 5 March 2015
A SVN repository created for KM3NeT svn+ssh://isvn.ific.uv.es/repos/KM3NeT Access via https or ssh: Two possibilities to access : To use a cern account. Send to Diego Real to allow permission to the repository. (already To those that do not have a cern account the IFIC is preparing a restricted IFIC account to allow access to the repository. Under test at the moment 2
6 KC705 requested in a coordinated way for KM3Net: 1.- APC 2.- Nikhef 3.- INFN – Genova 4.- IFIC 5.- INFN – Bologna 6.- NOA - UA UNIVERSITY PROGRAM For the moment 2 approved to the IFIC (It was requested only one!) Expanding an original idea by Annarita Margiotta
Evaluating Altera would also interesting. It will increase KM3NeT bargaining power. Arria V of Logic elements costs 80 $ (5000 pieces) and Altera claims that the power consumption is lower than the Xilinx equivalent (70T) NOA and UA (Tasos and Kostas) are requesting funding for migrating the CLBv2 design to the Arria V FPGA Altera has compromised to proportionate 2 Arria V Evaluation Boards to support the migration
They have started to prepare the application to Eurostarts: Next week they will provide a document explaining the project to a pool of companies from Italy interested in the Eurostarts application. S7 have also one possible partner in Germany
To explore the possibility to use the technology developed for CLBv2 to obtain more funding: PF7 for next year (S7-Nikhef-IFIC-NOA-UA-INFN Genova- INFN-Bologna- APC) Funding for groups from countries not signing the MoU Funding for groups with money blocked for other developments
Steering Comitee
Design, Preparation of the Production, Organization of the Production and the Validation: Shore Station CLBv2 (and associated instrumentation) o Firmware o Embedded software o Hardware Octopus Board PMT Bases
These tasks have to be coordinated with other groups: DAQ group Instrumentation group Quality group Electronics group

PMT Bases Design almost finished Preparation to the production already started Exists already a cost estimation for massive production Octopus board Design almost finished. Some small modification needed Preparation of the production not started yet Man power needed to continue these tasks Not prioritary ….. For the moment
CLBv2: 1º KC705 evaluation board for prototype: Firmware development Test of the design 2.-CLBv2 hardware prototyping + validation 3.- Establishment the CLBv2 test bench 4.- Preparation of the production 5.- Production + validation 6.- Delivery to the integration sites Once finished the design on the KC705 two lines of actuation to do in parallel to the main line depending resources: 1º Downgrade the design to ARTIX (reducing cost) 2º Migrate and evaluate ALTERA and Lattice (increasing bargaining power)
To explore the possibility to use the technology developed for CLBv2 to obtain more funding: PF7 for next year (S7-Nikhef-IFIC-NOA-UA-INFN Genova- INFN-Bologna- APC) Groups from countries not signing the MoU Groups with no Funding for KM3NeT developments
