Department of Human Resources GEU-UAW Contract Leave Provisions Article 15 Section #Description 13 days of paid leave per semester 2Leaves of 21 days or less 3Leaves of greater than 21 days 4Paid maternity leaves of 6 weeks (8 weeks if c-section) 4Paid parental leaves of 21 calendar days

Department of Human Resources 3 Days Paid Leave 20-hour GAs: 1 day = 4 hours GA takes off 8 hour day = 2 days Pro-rated for GAs with less then 20 hours Must be requested in advance Unused days do not roll over to next semester Department can approve/deny Administered by Department

Department of Human Resources Leaves of 21 Days or Less Approvals of leave are at the sole discretion of the university and may be paid or unpaid Tuition waiver and benefits continued if leave approved Require GA to complete an application Provide medical documentation when leave is for personal or family medical reasons Require department head approval after consultation with HR – Leave Administrator

Department of Human Resources Leaves of Greater than 21 Days Approval of non-maternity leaves are at the sole discretion of the university and may be paid or unpaid Tuition waiver can continue or be discontinued Benefits can continue or be discontinued Require GA to complete an application Provide medical documentation when leave is for personal or family medical reasons Require approval of the Vice Provost and Dean of The Graduate School in consultation with Human Resources

Department of Human Resources Leaves of Greater than 21 Days Maternity Paid for 6 weeks (8 weeks if C-section), not to exceed end of GA appointment Parental 21 calendar days, not to exceed end of GA appointment Tuition waiver and benefits continued during leave

Department of Human Resources GA Leave Process Departments track the three days Leaves greater than 3 days require that the Graduate Assistant submit: Leave of Absence Request Form Medical Certification Form, if leave is for medical reasons Human Resources Leave Administrator contacts Department Head GA required to provide a return to work certification from their physician
