Warm up Solving Real Life Problems (Warm up Sheet 3 minutes, 2 minutes to share)  The local zoo waives its entry fee for children under age 3 and for senior citizens age 65 and older. Write two separate inequalities for this situation and graph them on the same number line. How could you describe the customers the zoo charges an entry fee for?

Solution  The local zoo waives its entry fee for children under age 3 and for senior citizens age 65 and older. Write two separate inequalities for this situation and graph them on the same number line. How could you describe the customers the zoo charges an entry fee for?  The zoo charges an entry fee for people ages 3 and older who are less than 65 years old.

Exploration 1 (page 48 in your journals ) (2 minutes to discuss)  Use two inequalities to describe the interval.

Exploration 1

Exploration 1 Cont’d  Do you use “and” or “or” to connect the two inequalities? Explain.

Exploration 2

Do you use “and” or “or” to connect the two inequalities?

Closure (4 minutes on your closure sheet)  Solve the Inequality.

Closure (Solution)  Solve the Inequality.

Homework  Pages 53  Explorations 1 and 2
