CIVICS EXAM All students must pass the Civics Exam in order to graduate. Students must earn at least a 60% and will have numerous times to retake the test, if necessary

FINANCIAL LITERACY ½ credit All students must complete a ½ credit of PERSONAL FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT in order to graduate. This course is taken during the junior or senior year. TOTAL ½ credit

PHYSICAL EDUCATION 1 ½ credits Grade 99/10 Physical Education ½ credit Grade 109/10 Physical Education ½ credit – or GET FIT-ADVANCED FITNESS and WEIGHT TRAINING Grade 11/12 –Can be taken through the following courses: –LIFETIME SPORTS AND FITNESS ½ credit –EXPLORING ACTIVIE LIFESTYLES 1 credit –GIRLS-ONLY LIFETIME FITNESS CAN BE FUN 1 credit Health: must be successfully completed in middle school, if not, then must be taken in high school

PHYSICAL EDUCATION SUBSTITUTE CREDIT OPTION (Policy ) Students take (3) courses to earn 1 ½ credits of PE to meet graduation requirements. High School students may substitute participation in athletic co- curricular activities for one-half (1/2) credit of the 1 ½ credit of PE required for graduation. Students who substitute athletic co-curricular participation must complete an additional ½ elective credit of English, math, social studies science or health education course that is not otherwise required for graduation.

COURSE RETAKE AND GRADE REPLACEMENT Students may want to retake a course to learn at a deeper level to prepare for future coursework, improve one’s gpa or college admission, increase chances on acquiring a scholarship or simply to acquire the maximum gpa one can earn. The decision to retake a course is an important decision and requires parent meeting with school personnel prior to the second enrollment. Any course to be retaken must be done so within the next school year. All courses taken will be recorded on the students transcript. The letter “R” will replace the lower grade and have no value in calculating one’s gpa or class rank.

How many credits should a freshmen take? Remember that freshmen need a total of 25 credits to graduate… so planning is important. Freshmen are encouraged to take 7 credits. By taking 7 credits, a student would have one (1) study hall per semester. Example of one study hall per semester for four years, students will easily meet the minimum needed to graduate: 9 th grade 7 credits 10 th grade7 credits 11 th grade7 credits 12 th grade7 credits TOTAL 28 credits

OPPORTUNITY TO EARN COLLEGE CREDIT WHILE IN HIGH SCHOOL TRANSCRIPTED CREDIT: Moraine Park Technical College course taught by MHS staff (courses with TC behind them) CAPP Course with UW Oshkosh YOUTH OPTIONS: An opportunity for 11 th and 12 th graders to take college courses while in high school ADVANCED PLACEMENT (AP) COURSES: Literature and Composition United States History Calculus AB Biology PLTW: Project Lead the Way

SUMMER SCHOOL OPPORTUNITIES New beginning this year, incoming freshmen will be able to take courses in the summer to allow them more flexibility in their schedules throughout high school 2016 Summer School Courses: Physical Education ½ credit US History Sem I ½ credit Summer School Registration will begin on April 25, 2016 through Skyward. Detailed information will be sent from Mrs. LeBouton (Summer School Coordinator) next week via Skyward

What next? Tour the buildings given by FFA members in front of the library Visit the variety of organizations/clubs/sports in the library. GET INVOLVED!
