Foxy Fours Jackson County Board of Education Gainesboro, Tennessee N. Garry Lee, Director of Schools – Angelia B. Smith, Principal, Fox Middle School Heather Gothard, Foxy Four Teacher Patsy Scott, Foxy Four Assistant

Foxy Four Mission To provide children with an appropriate educational environment which will lead them to becoming competent, happy, lifelong learners. To partner with the family and the community to maximize the possibilities for each child.

To achieve that ideal, staff concentrate in areas of: Cognitive Development Social/Emotional Development Language Development Motor Development

Children learn… By exploring,

By experimenting,

By trying out different roles…

By engaging in social interactions,

By practicing what they see,

By using their senses“There is nothing in the intellect that was not first in the senses.”… Aristotle

And pretend play,

Through creative expression, “The process is more important than the product.”

And through active movement.

Children interact with and learn from many varied materials,

Each child interacting at his or her own level and pace.

Children enrich their vocabulary and practice language Through reading

And writing,

And talking.

Visitors bring children many new ideas and perspectives.

And not all visitors have 2 legs!

ParentsParents Make the Difference!

Parents Volunteers spend time in the classroom,

Assisting, participating, learning…

…helping, planning, and providing resources. Moms volunteer… Dads volunteer…

Grannies volunteer…

Grandpas volunteer…

And Great-Grannies volunteer, too!

“All other factors being equal, a child whose parent volunteers will do better in school.”

Parents also help with educational trips

And help to give children a hands-on and close-up look at the world around them.

Parents participate in monthly meetings, projects, and activities throughout the school year.

And for our children at Foxy Fours, it is…
