Leading Self Establishing Christ-like Priorities Thinking of Jesus’ life and ministry, what were some of His priorities?

Establishing Christ-like Priorities "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." Luke 4:18-19

Establishing Christ-like Priorities As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men." Matt 4:18-20

Establishing Christ-like Priorities On hearing this, Jesus said, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice.' For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners." Matt 9:12-13

Establishing Christ-like Priorities For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost." Luke 19:10

Establishing Christ-like Priorities Jesus gave them this answer: "I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, to your amazement he will show him even greater things than these. John 5:19-20

Establishing Christ-like Priorities Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." Matt 22:37-40

Establishing Christ-like Priorities Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and his disciples followed him. On reaching the place, he said to them, "Pray that you will not fall into temptation." He withdrew about a stone's throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed, "Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done." Lk 22:39-42

Establishing Christ-like Priorities What were the critical priorities for Jesus?

Establishing Christ-like Priorities What might those priorities look like in your life & ministry?

Key Principle It has been said that we live between two gardens. In the first garden, humankind chose to be like God. In the second garden, the God-Man chose to be an obedient Son. Which garden do you most often visit? What specific steps can you take to dwell in the second garden as a loving son?

What are some Expressions of living with Christ-like Priorities? Practicing whole life worship Befriending “normal” people Seeking and following God’s calling for our life Acting in faith thru loving obedience

What are some resources that assist you in living with Christ-like Priorities? Practicing the Presence- Lawrence Purpose Driven Life- Warren Loving God- Colson The Radical Question, What Is Jesus Worth To You?- Platt

Triad Questions: On a scale of 1 (Different) to 10 (Identical) how would you rate the priorities in your life in comparison to Jesus’ priorities? What are you currently doing that is bringing you into alignment with Jesus’ priorities?

What specific steps do you sense the Holy Spirit leading you to take today and tomorrow and next week (month, year) so that the priorities of Jesus would become an essential part of your very being?

Who can you share this commitment with so that he (or your wife) can encourage and come alongside you to see it through until the return of our Lord Jesus Christ?
