Embracing & Passing On Our High Calling in Christ “Godlessness in the Last Days” 2 nd Timothy 3: Spring OIF Sermon Series 2nd Timothy: Embracing & Passing on Our High Calling in Christ

Embracing & Passing On Our High Calling in Christ 1Chron. 12:32 …from Issachar, men who understood the times and knew what Israel should do…

Embracing & Passing On Our High Calling in Christ 2Tim. 3:1-9 1 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people. 6 They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7 always learning but never able to come to a knowledge

Embracing & Passing On Our High Calling in Christ 2Tim. 3:1-9 of the truth. 8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these teachers oppose the truth. They are men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. 9 But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.

Embracing & Passing On Our High Calling in Christ 1. Wrong Priorities 2Tim. 3:1-4 1 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.

Embracing & Passing On Our High Calling in Christ 1. Wrong Priorities Matthew 22: Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Embracing & Passing On Our High Calling in Christ 1. Wrong Priorities “In this universe there is God, and there are people and things. We should worship God, love people, and use things. But if we start worshipping ourselves, we will ignore God and start loving things and using people, this is the formula for a miserable life.” - Warren Wiersbe

Embracing & Passing On Our High Calling in Christ 2. False Religiosity 2Tim. 3:5-9 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people. 6 They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7 always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth. 8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these teachers oppose the truth. They are men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. 9 But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.
