5 SUNSCREEN FACTS YOU WERE NOT AWARE OF!

Summer or winter, one of the essential skin care products for women is sunscreen! However, most of the time we fail to choose the best suited sunscreen for our skin. Here are a few things you must know before buying the skin protector!

1 SPF Sun protector factor measures how much time does sun rays take to harm the skin. For instance if the skin with SPF 30 is burning in 300 seconds than it will take 10 sec to burn the skin with sunscreen lotion.

2 SPF PROTECTION SPF 10 provides low protection while SPF 10- SPF 25 provides moderate protection. SPF30 is suitable for the people who want high protection and for very higher skin protection people can opt for SPF 50+.

3 UVA and UVB UV radiations has wavelengths those are invisible to naked eyes. These wavelengths have been classified as UVA that measures nanometers, UVB ranges from 290 to 320 nanometers and UVC that doesn’t reach the earth. UVA penetrates deeper in the skin and considered to be one of the reasons of skin diseases.

4 BROAD SPECTRUM You may have read “broad spectrum” on your sunscreen bottle that means protection from UVA as well as UVB.

PA+++ Protection Grade of UVA (PA) system is used by many brands to measure the SPF of sunscreen. Persistent Pigment Darkening is based on the reading of hours of sun exposure.  P+ means the cream can provide medium protection against UV radiation, i.e. two to four hours PPD factor. P++ provides moderate protection against UVA rays with four to eight PPD factor. P+++ is recommended for heavy exposure of the sun and provide good protection with more than eight PPD factor. 5
