Katelyn Sellers Katelyn is the Lead for the State Plan of Work and Annual Report process as well as the business lead for the REEport system management and development. She also leads the Multistate Research Fund. Katelyn supports the planning, development, coordination, and delivery of accountability and financial reporting from agency information systems. Panel of Experts Met in June Objective: Identify ways to streamline and improve the POW reporting process.

Panel Results Delivered to NIFA a set of recommendations describing different tactics for streamlining, reducing duplication and burden in reporting. –Primary recommendation centers around integrating old POW system into newer REEport technology. Brand new modules would need to be designed in REEport to accommodate POW legislative requirements and Extension reporting.

NIFA’s Response Official response will be posted on the POW webpage by COB Jan 19, – NIFA agrees with all recommendations on a general scale. –There are many details to work out. –Panel “sub-groups” are starting to convene to help NIFA integrate the systems and make sure partner and federal needs are met.

Next Steps NIFA performing day assessment of technical resources, milestones, and phases for integrating systems. Will liaison with subgroups in latter part of assessment. Will communicate short-term timeline when assessment is complete.

POW Session at NERAOC Will focus primarily on implementation of integrating POW with REEport –Progress so far. –Timeline for 1, 2, 3 years out. –LGU and NIFA perspectives on change management. –Opportunity for brainstorming, feedback.

FY15 Financial Reporting Self-service functionality for financial reporting was deployed on January 8 FY15 expenditures for both Capacity and Competitive Projects must be reported this year.

Points to remember: Errors must be cleared – unable to submit to NIFA with errors. Use the “Error” button to see a summary of all errors. Alerts are allowed but must be reviewed. Upon Submission to NIFA, be sure to read the confirmation statement. Once submitted, reporting is complete. No Verification Reports – No Director’s Reports To make corrections – update your data and resubmit, up until NIFA freezes the reporting cycle.

A Reminder on FTEs Report ALL effort/time spent on project, regardless of how that time was paid for (do not include volunteer hours). It’s a calculation based on how your organization defines a full time person year in hours. –Example: GAO definition of a full time person year is 2,080 hours. If a person is committed to 10 hours per week for 20 weeks on a project (200 hours), then 200/2,080 =.096 FTE (round to.1 on report)
