Passive Voice Two Parts to the verb!

There are two Parts of the Verb in the passive voice. BE + PAST PARTICIPLE

PART 1: Be Be

There are many forms of the helping verb “be” There are so many – just remember them like rays around a “be” sunshine.

The “Be” Sunshine Rays am, is, are was, were will be am being, is being, are being was being, were being have been, has been had been will have been

Now there is a second verb part in the passive voice It’s the main verb in the Past Participle form.

PART 2: The Past Participle like these examples: Regular Verbs: + ed finished, started, washed, cleaned, brushed, liked, loved, hated, continued, composed, filled, raised, distributed, etc. Irregular Verbs: eaten, drunk, done, made, sold, hidden, seen, heard, written, read, found, lost, put, bought, sold, taught, etc.

Not the past participle! That always remains the same…. and doesn’t change

Change these to Passive Voice Scientists have discovered a cure to cancer. A cure to cancer has been discovered. Thieves were robbing my house! My house was being robbed! Someone must have eaten the cake. The cake must have been eaten. A driver will pick me up at 2:00. I will be picked up at 2:00. The parent is punishing the boy right now. The boy is being punished right now.
