Optional SATs Year 4 The children do these tests in Literacy and Numeracy at the end of the year. The marks give Levels similar to Keystage 1 and Keystage 2 SATs. You can compare your child’s work with these questions and the necessary reading ability. This will give you a clear indication of your child’s performance.
Ways to help at home encourage reading every night and listen as often as you can, take your child to the library. if your child is clearly not enjoying reading a book change it unless it is set for a particular purpose. help your child to learn the weekly spellings – perhaps three a day building up over the week. ensure 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 times tables are known and corresponding division facts. help to tell the time from a digital and fingered clock ask fun questions about money, time and quantities – 1 tin of beans costs 43p, how much would 3 cost? If two thirds of a pizza is gone how much is left?
