I love having parents being involved in their child’s education. With demanding schedules, I completely understand how hard this can be. There are many things you can volunteer to help out with during school hours, after school hours, and even at home! If you can spare time, please sign up. If you have any questions please send me an and we can work something out!

Wiki Space/Classroom Info Every Friday I will update my wikispace, This will contain information for the following week. In this wikispace you will find any upcoming test dates or other important dates, spelling words for the week, vocabulary for each subject, at home online components for each subject/textbook, book reports/ long term project assignments or due dates, and any other important information for the kids! It is incredibly important that you read the wikispace because it will help you stay up-to-date on your child and what is going on in the classroom.

Our daily schedule changes each day. Please hold onto the handout in which the schedule is provided for you. Doors open at 7:50- 8:05. Your child will be marked tardy after 8:05 a.m. After 8:05, your child must enter the school through the office. The first bell is at 8:05. Prayers are at 8:07 A.M. Classes begin at 8:10 A.M. We allow time each day for a multiple bathroom breaks as well as snack. Please send in a healthy item for your child’s snack.

There will not be an abundance of homework given. However, homework that is given is extremely beneficial to your child’s education and it is important that it is completely with maximum effort and on time. Students are given time each day to write down their homework assignments in their assignment book. They are expected to have their homework assignment book initialed each night by a parent. It is the students responsibility to ask you to initial it, not the other way around. Your initial is there to ensure each homework assignment is completed on time. Homework notices will be given to your child for any incomplete homework assignments. These notices will start on Monday, October 5, Five homework notices within a Quarter will result in a one hour detention after or before school with me. These will be wiped away at the end of each quarter

Our school follows the “St. John Vianney School Wide Rules”: Be Safe Be Responsible Be Respectful Be Ready Be Christian We also follow four simple whole brain classroom rules: Raise your hand for permission to leave your seat. Raise your hand for permission to speak. Make smart choices. Make your dear teacher happy. Students are expected to follow these rules anytime they are on school property. There numbered clips will all start each day in the “Ready to Learn” area. The first violation in a day results in a “warning” and moving their clip to “slow down” area, The second results in a loss of recess time, and moving their clip to the “think about it” area, The third results in a call home, and moving their clip to “contact home” area. My goal is to not only help your child be a great student, but to be a great person as well. I am confident that with our love and support they will find success.

Religion: Religion will be taught by Mrs.Otto. We will use the We Believe series of text. Religion will cover various topics. The We Belive website is located at for practice review and tests. Reading: Reading will be taught using the Scott Foresman Reading Street series. We will use the Reading Street text. Reading instruction will include vocabulary and story comprehension exams. Handwriting is taught using the school wide religious Alphamation handwriting series. English: English will be taught using the Voyages in English writing and grammar series.
