Film Distribution By Joe and Beth

What is Film distribution? O Film distribution is the process of making a film available for viewing by an audience. This is done through the use of such things as premiers, posters, trailers etc.

Film distribution-Selma O The first trailer for Selma was released on 6 th November. O John Legend and Oprah were released as Actors involved. O The premier for Selma in America took place as the American Film Institute Festival on November 11 th O The poster released was plain and simple. A black and white photo with SELMA written in red.

O Release dates aseinfo?ref_=tt_dt_dt aseinfo?ref_=tt_dt_dt O Scattering the release dates leads the film to be in the cinemas for longer, leading to higher box office figures.

Why is film marketing so important? O Premiers and Trailers help to advertise and promote the film by giving critics the opportunities to review the film and gain popularity. O They also help to entice the audience, leaving them eager to watch the film in the cinema, rather than waiting for the DVD or downloading. O Releasing any famous actors or celebrities who are involved in the film also helps to promote it by targeting the fans of the celebrities. O Scattering the release dates across the world also helps the marketing as the staggered dates allow for the film to be in the cinema for longer, therefore bringing more money into the box offices. O Without marketing, it is unlikely that even mainstream films in the cinema would be heard about, therefore there would be less chance of the film making a profit.
