Task force on Communications and Public Relations, TF-CPR (formerly known as TF-PR) Update June – September 2009 TF-CPR Workshop 15 October 2009 Carrie Solomon Communications Officer TERENA

Meetings and outcomes – June 2009  At TNC  0.5 day TF-PR, 1 day joint meeting with TF-MSP  Reviewed terms and deliverables.  Main outcome: task force should have less emphasis on concrete deliverables, more emphasis on information and knowledge exchange between participants  TF-PR sat in on TF-MSP meeting

Meetings and outcomes – Sept 2009 (I)  Co-located at GN3 Symposia  1 day TF-PR in Vienna (host: ACOnet), 1 day GN3 PR Network at Symposia hotel  TF-PR day was very interactive day with workshops and presentations. Well received by participants, particularly preferred the structure of discussions and case studies instead of presentations

Meetings and outcomes - Sept 2009 (II) Topics covered:  Marketing AAI (ARNES)  Measuring success of a marketing campaign (case studies worked in teams)  Social networking tools for NRENs (presentation).  TF-PR Compendium discussion - outcome: increase value of TF- PR Compendium by defining useful questions for ‘developed NRENs’ (not only for ‘less developed’ NRENS)  Terms of reference discussion > new name of task force to reflect broad range of marketing responsibilities of members (not only PR) > deliverables: 1) TF-CPR Compendium (SURFnet /TERENA), 2) TF-CPR meetings, 3) TF-CPR repository (TERENA/Dante), 4) community news list development (coordinated by TERENA)  Building better ‘pr community’ distribution lists: TERENA will request more NREN contact data for PeaR from TF-CPR members, and coordinate clean up of task force groups.

Next Meeting – March 2010 IIn Slovenia 22 days
