MTAC #102 2 Progress Goal  MTAC 102 is focused on developing an approach for First Class Mail Notification, Electronic Payment and Visibility July  Reviewed data needs for both Operations and Marketing including data necessary for: –Transportation Planning –Electronic Payment –Improved Dock Operations –Improved Processing Operations

MTAC #102 3 Progress September  Toured the North Texas P&DC to view Surface Visibility Operations and how it applies to mailers  Discussed the current Seamless Pilots and their applications to First Class mail  Toured the PSI facility in Dallas October Meeting  Discussed advance notification process and the data avaiable to support USPS needs –Utilized AT&T and PSI as examples

MTAC #102 4 Transportation  Air Lift  Surface Transportation Processing Staffing Mail Transport Equipment Since the last meeting, USPS discussed the flow of data and potential data sources with mailers. Advance Notification With mailer advance notification, USPS can improve operations and service performance for First Class Mail.

MTAC #102 5 MLOCR Example USPS has conducted discussions to determine the data available as well as the timeliness of the data.

MTAC #102 7 Advance Notification & Payment Mailers submit advance notification data to PostalOne! using Mail.dat or Web Services Advance notification information sent to PostalOne! is communicated to FAST As finalized postage statement information is ready it is communicated to PostalOne!, again via Mail.dat or Web Services, in a “Ready to Pay” update Processes and submission methods used for standard mail will be used to support advance notification for first class mail. Mailer via MAIL.DAT via Web Services PostalOne! Postage Statement Wizard FAST Parcels Periodicals First Class Standard
