BUT WE ARE NOT DONE! FSA ELA Printed calendars do not have the 2 nd and 3 rd FSA writing windows information One score: reading and writing combined Administered with multiple weeks lapse FDOE Just announced 2 more FSA Writing windows: April 6-9, 2015 May 4-8, 2015

FSA- WRITING ROUND 2: THE DETAILS FSA ELA will be a combined score of both the reading and writing components. The state has established 2 additional testing windows for ELA writing: April 6-9, 2015 – students who complete the Writing Component during this make-up window will be included in regular reporting of student scores. May 4-8, 2015 – students who complete the Writing Component during this make-up window will be included in late reporting of student scores. These testing windows are only for Students who were enrolled during the first testing window, but where unable to do so Students new to your school Students whose writing component was invalidated are not eligible to test in these windows Questions pending to FDOE Does participation in these makeup windows count in the participation rate fore a school? Yes, if the student was enrolled in survey 3 and at the time of testing. Does an unofficial “opt out” student from round 1 of testing, now need to stay home during these days? Yes, but I am waiting to connect with FDOE on an ‘unofficial’ answer

ON-GOING TOPIC: OPT OUT MOVEMENT “Opt out” movement: Unlike in other states (NY, KY), parents are not allowed to opt their students out of testing. s F.S. However, there is a protest movement we should be familiar with it’s own “tool kit” Extensive guide May experience more students this year than in years’ past Absent from school In attendance, sign acknowledgements, break seals, place head down

SUMMARY OF CHANGES Taken high stakes test in FL for 15 years FCAT didn’t match with new standards so we needed a new test to match Standards are very different, so the test is very different Operational differences occur primarily in CBT Role of TA Length of test Resources available to student

SO…LET’S REMEMBER

AND WHY WE ARE HERE
