How We Arrived Here Current State of Center Point/Washington Township Fire Agency ◦ Fire Department moved into City as a Department ◦ New 28e agreement with the Township ◦ Mayor established a citizens Fire Facility Advisory Committee ◦ Committee to review current state of fire facilities (repair or replace) ◦ If recommendation was to replace the committee was to do due diligence in order to recommend potential sites for a new facility. Path to a safe, successful, and sustainable future CITY OF CENTER POINT

The Committee Fifty people were invited to join the Citizen’s committee. The group was made up of 80% City residents and 20% Township residents. ◦ Approximately 30 people participated ◦ Three Meetings ◦ Members toured the existing facilities as a part of meeting #2 ◦ October & November ◦ Facilitated by Dr. Ron Fielder from UofI CITY OF CENTER POINT

Recommendations After brainstorming the qualities of an adequate fire facility and touring the existing fire facility the committee rapidly reach consensus that the facilities need to be replaced CITY OF CENTER POINT

Recommendations Criteria for Siting a New Fire Facility ◦Access to utility Infrastructure ◦Paved/good street ◦Room for expansion ◦Central location/best response times ◦Township access ◦Ability to control traffic ◦Adequate ingress/egress ◦Visibility ◦Adequate parking ◦Recommended acres CITY OF CENTER POINT

Recommended Site CITY OF CENTER POINT North Center Point Rd. – East of Casey’s Site meets all of the committee’s criteria In addition the site is Allows for growth Utilities are in close proximity Displaces no commercial or residential

Alternative Sites CITY OF CENTER POINT The Committee did not prioritize the following four sites stating that Council should do further research to determine which sites are the best fit for the project. The Committee feels that all sites meet all or the majority of the committee’s criteria

Total Acres: 1.67 (Hotel is 1.1 acres, Apartments are 0.57 acres) Red Line is an 8” Sewer Main Blue Line is an 4” Water Main Alternative Site

CITY OF CENTER POINT Lewis Access Road and Mustang Court Property Owner: Gary Junge & Progressive Investments Total Acres: 5.36 Red Line is an 10” Sewer Main down Lewis Access and 15” along South Side of property Blue Line is an 8” Water Main Alternative Site

CITY OF CENTER POINT North Center Point Rd by Water Tower Property Owner: Joachim Sels Total Acres: 9.35 There is no Sewer Main in area Blue Line is an 12” Water Main Alternative Site

Conclusion Committee members are extremely supportive of this project, many members have signed up to help in other capacities as we move forward. The committee is also willing to meet with Council to discuss these recommendations or to assist in the process if needed. CITY OF CENTER POINT
