The New York Film Academy was founded in 1992 by Jerry Sherlock.

The New York Film Academy offers One-year programs in Filmmaking, Acting for Film, Producing, Screenwriting, 3D Animation, Cinematography, Broadcast Journalism, Digital Photography and Game Design.

Based on an academic year, the curriculum is divided into four semesters. During the first semester students learn the art and technique of visual storytelling. Courses held during the first eight weeks include: Director's Craft, Hands-on Camera and Lighting, Writing, and Editing.

Based on an academic school year, the curriculum in the Associate of Fine Art in Acting for Film program is divided into four semesters.

New York itself has much to offer to the students: for dining, film, nightlife, shopping, and museums - the list goes on - New York ranks number one in the world. But the Academy doesn’t provide any extra-curricular activities, because the process of training is very fascinating, since the main Academy’s principle is “learning by doing”.

New York Film Academy organizes summer camps for teens and kids, where each student writes, directs, shoots, and edits, or acts in his or her own short films. And although the workshop’s daily schedule is demanding, non-commuting students have time to take advantage of the swimming, tennis, and gym facilities.

Finally, the Academy offers a lot of workshops (duration of which varies from 1 to 12 weeks). With it any person can improve their knowledge in different fine arts.
