Integration Guide
Weekly Planners Forward provides a library of Sample Learning Tasks rather than one prescribed lesson for each concept or topic.
Forward Flex Guide Teachers may elect to incorporate their own content in conjunction with the curriculum topics presented in Forward. Since every Sample Learning Task (SLT) within Forward has a closure portion that links back to the thinking and academic success skills, we recommend that any non-Forward assets also tie back. The Forward Flex Guide tells teachers: How to locate Curriculum Concepts and Topics How to read a Sample Learning Task (SLT) How to incorporate custom content resources (i.e., your favorite book) How to tie custom assets to the thinking and academic success skills
Key Distinctions Developed in partnership with a leading school district. A fully digital, K-5 integrated curriculum focused on key critical thinking, creative thinking and academic success skills. Services-a broader solution by allowing teachers to balance curriculum planning, classroom management, student assessment, and professional development. Everything is in one place.
Impact on Teaching and Learning Perceived Impact of Teachers Using Forward: Pilot teachers showed gains in their levels of preparedness for teaching math, science, and social studies, integrating thinking and academic skills across the curriculum, and meeting the diverse needs of learners. Teachers also showed an increase in the extent to which they were prepared to use educational technologies in the classroom. Perceived Impact of Students using Forward: Pilot teachers indicated that their students appeared more engaged when they used Forward. Teachers also reported that students’ higher-order thinking/cognition skills were positively impacted as a result of using the program.
Technology Requirements Forward runs on the Pearson SuccessNet Plus (PSN+) platform. The requirements link will provide an acceptable user experience: Students can access content online and view animations on their computer. However, because Forward was designed to function as a teaching and planning tool, it works best in classrooms equipped with a teacher-ready computer with internet access and either a projector or interactive whiteboard.
