CROSS CULTURAL MINISTRY CORE VALUES & TRANS-CULTURE EVANGELISM

OBJECTIVES OBJECTIVE 1 – THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO LIST AND DESCRIBE THE THREE MAJOR CORE VALUES THAT SHOULD GUIDE CULTURAL INTERACTION

OBJECTIVE 1 LIST AND DESCRIBE THE THREE MAJOR CORE VALUES THAT SHOULD GUIDE CULTURAL INTERACTION

OBJECTIVE 1 THERE SHOULD BE THREE OVER- ARCHING CORE VALUES THAT GUIDE OUR INTERACTION WITH PEOPLES OF ALL CULTURES: – INTEGRITY FIRST – EXCELLENCE IN ALL WE DOE – SERVICE BEFORE SELF

OBJECTIVE 1 CORE VALUES ARE MUCH MORE THAN MINIMUM STANDARDS THEY REMIND US WHAT IT TAKES TO BE EFFECTIVE MINISTERS AND TO HAVE A TRUE BIBLICAL IMPACT UPON THE VARIOUS CULTURES WE ENCOUNTER THEY INSPIRE US TO DO OUR VERY BEST AT ALL TIMES

INTEGRITY INTEGRITY IS THE WILLINGNESS TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT EVEN WHEN NO ONE IS LOOKING IT IS OUR “MORAL COMPASS” INTEGRITY IS THE ABILITY TO HOLD TOGETHER AND REGULATE ALL OF THE ELEMENTS OF A PERSONALITY

INTEGRITY A PERSON OF INTEGRITY IS CAPABLE OF ACTING ON CONVICTION A PERSON OF INTEGRITY CAN CONTROL IMPULSES AND APPETITES

INTEGRITY INTEGRITY INVOLVES SEVERAL OTHER CHARACTER TRAITS: – COURAGE – DOING WHAT IS RIGHT REGARDLESS OF PERSONAL COSTS – HONESTY – NOT FALSIFYING, DECEIVING, LYING OR DEVIATING IN OUR COMMUNICATION

INTEGRITY CHARACTER TRAITS (CONT): – RESPONSIBLE – ACCOUNTABLE – NOT SHIFTING BLAME TO OTHERS OR TAKING CREDIT FOR THE WORK OF OTHERS “THE BUCK STOPS HERE!” – JUST

INTEGRITY CHARACTER TRAITS (CONT): – OPENNESS – FREE FLOW OF INFORMATION, OPEN TO INVESTIGATION – SELF-RESPECT – NOT BEHAVING IN WAYS THAT BRING DISCREDIT UPON OURSELVES OR OUR ORGANIZATION

INTEGRITY CHARACTER TRAITS (CONT): – HUMILITY – A PERSON THAT GRASPS AND IS SOBERED BY THE AWESOME TASK AT HAND AND THAT GOD IS USING THAT PERSON TO ACCOMPLISH IT

EXCELLENCE DIRECTS US TO DEVELOP A SUSTAINED PASSION FOR CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT AND INNOVATION THAT WILL PROPEL OUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN AN UPWARD SPIRAL OF PERFORMANCE

EXCELLENCE PRODUCT/SERVICE EXCELLENCE – FOCUS ON PROVIDING SERVICES AND GENERATING PRODUCTS THAT FULLY AND BIBLICALLY RESPOND TO THE NEEDS OF OUR “CUSTOMERS”

EXCELLENCE PERSONAL EXCELLENCE – A PERSON OF EXCELLENCE IS CONSTANTLY LEARNING AND IMPROVING THEMSELVES, STAYING IN TOP SPIRITUAL, MENTAL AND PHYSICAL SHAPE, AND MAXIMIZING THEIR POTENTIAL

EXCELLENCE COMMUNITY EXCELLENCE – WORKING WITH OTHERS IN AN EFFECTIVE MANNER TO REACH A COMMON GOAL IN AN ATMOSPHERE FREE OF INTIMIDATION AND FEAR THE PRESERVES INDIVIDUAL SELF-WORTH

EXCELLENCE MUTUAL RESPECT – VIEWING OTHERS AS GOD VIEWS THEM, WORTH THE SON OF GOD DYING FOR; RECOGNIZING THAT EACH PERSON HAS VALUE, IS UNIQUELY CREATED BY GOD AND HAS SOMETHING TO CONTRIBUTE

EXCELLENCE SYNERGY – UNDERSTANDING THAT THE WHOLE IS GREATER THAN THE SUM OF THE PARTS; TAKES PLACE WHEN TWO OR MORE PEOPLE PRODUCE MORE TOGETHER THAN THE SUM OF WHAT THEY COULD HAVE PRODUCED SEPARATELY; A WIN-WIN MENTALITY

EXCELLENCE RESOURCES EXCELLENCE – AGGRESSIVELY IMPLEMENTING POLICIES TO ENSURE THE BEST POSSIBLE CRADLE-TO-GRAVE MANAGEMENT OF THE RESOURCES THAT GOD GIVES US

EXCELLENCE MATERIAL RESOURCES – GODLY STEWARDSHIP OF THINGS, MAINTENANCE AND USING TO FULL POTENTIAL HUMAN RESOURCES – RECRUITING, TRAINING, PROMOTING AND RETAINING THOSE WHO CAN DO THE TASK BETTER THAN WE CAN; “WORKING OUR WAY OUT OF A JOB”

EXCELLENCE OPERATIONS EXCELLENCE – INTERNAL OPERATIONS – WITHIN OUR ORGANIZATION, CHURCH, HOME, ETC. – EXTERNAL OPERATIONS – HAVING A “GOOD REPORT” WITH THOSE WITHOUT; PAYING BILLS, GOOD NEIGHBOR RELATIONS, ETC.

SERVICE BEFORE SELF OUR DUTY TO GOD, THE WORD AND THE WORLD TAKE PRECEDENCE OVER PERSONAL DESIRES

SERVICE RULE FOLLOWING – EXERCISING JUDGMENT IN THE OUTWARD AND INWARD PERFORMANCE OF OUR LIVES RULES HAVE A REASON FOR BEING AND THEIR FOLLOWING SHOULD BE DEFAULT FOR US UNLESS THERE IS A CLEAR, OPERATIONAL REASON FOR REFUSING TO DO SO

SERVICE RULES FOLLOWING (CONT) BEING ABLE TO DRAW PRINCIPLES FROM GOD’S WORD AND TO FOLLOW THEM

SERVICE RESPECT FOR OTHERS PLACING NEEDS OF OTHERS BEFORE OUR NEEDS AND PERSONAL COMFORT; ALL PERSONS POSSESS A FUNDAMENTAL WORTH AS HUMAN BEINGS

SERVICE DISCIPLINE AND SELF-CONTROL – NOT INDULGING IN SELF-PITY; DISCOURAGEMENT; ANGER; FRUSTRATION; OR DEFEATISM WE MUST STRIKE A TONE OF CONFIDENCE AND FORWARD-LOOKING OPTIMISM, EXERCISING CONTROL IN: – ANGER – APPETITES – TOLERATION

WHY THESE CORE VALUES? THEY TELL US THE PRICE OF ADMISSION TO BEING A DISCIPLE OF CHRIST THEY POINT TO WHAT IS UNIVERSAL AND UNCHANGING THEY HELP US TO GET A FIX ON OUR ETHICAL CLIMATE THEY SERVE AS BEACONS VECTORING US BACK TO THE PATH OF PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT ALLOWING US TO TRANSFORM A CLIMATE OF CORROSION INTO A CLIMATE OF ETHICAL COMMITMENT

CONCLUSION

OBJECTIVES OBJECTIVE 1 – THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO LIST AND DESCRIBE THE THREE MAJOR CORE VALUES THAT SHOULD GUIDE CULTURAL INTERACTION
