o 16 different Bachelor degrees involve 4 years of study (8 semesters), and the Medical Degree follows a 6 year program University of Crete7 Maria Voulgaraki o 37 Postgraduate Studies Programs leading to Masters degrees (MSc). Within many of these degree programs there are ‘directions’ allowing for specializations in the field of study. Typical duration 2 years (4 semesters) o Doctoral studies leading to a PhD are available in the same fields and in areas of research expertise throughout the University. CWTS Leiden Ranking for 2014CWTS Leiden Ranking for 2014, normalized for size, the UoC has the highest percentage of high impact publications of the six major Greek HEIs included and, overall, ranks #150 among the total 288 European HEIs listed and #5 in Europe for Natural Sciences. Results for , rank the University overall in the bracket, second among the six Greek HEIs participating. Research and knowledge transfer are primarily measured by analyses of academic publications and citations. On this score, citations per faculty, the University of Crete ranks first in Greece and 149th worldwide. The University has taken part in the new U-MultirankU-Multirank university ranking, which compares and grades HEI performance across five broad dimensions (teaching and learning, regional engagement, knowledge transfer, international orientation and research). Greece is well represented on the new platform, with information available on the 13 th of the country’s higher education institutions. Among these, University of Crete comes first overall, with 5 ‘A’ (‘gold’) and 7 B (‘silver’) scores in the second edition released in March The results show that the University’s primary strengths are in research and research linkages.
