Overview of CCC ADN Program May 23, 2016 Key to Success is preparation and planning

LPN to RN ADN Program Compliance with deadlines for completion of admission to program –Official copy of grades for all prerequisites (June 15) –Criminal background check –Immunizations record –CPR for healthcare workers (offered on July 9 th at Robert G. Mason Health Sciences Building) –Social security and Driver License –Current contact info: Phone, , address

LPN to RN ADN Program 30 hours of prerequisites listed in catlog Consist of one summer session Fall semester Spring semester 77% or greater requires to pass courses

LPN to RN ADN Program Summer Session Transition course –4 weeks long from May 31- June 30 th, 2016 –Include content on fundamental nursing, chronic medical surgical health disorders, pharmacology and dosage calculation. –Must pass to be officially admitted in program –Must complete program to earn 14 credit hours to meet graduation requirements

LPN to RN ADN Program Fall Semester Mental Health Nursing –5 weeks in length –45 hours of theory and 45 hours of clinical must pass both to pass the course –Must pass course to progress to next course and stay in program

LPN to RN ADN Program Family Health Nursing –10 weeks in length –Combined content of pediatric, maternity, and selected medical-surgical health disorder –90 hours of theory and 90 hours of clinical –Must pass theory and clinical to pass course and stay in the program

LPN to RN ADN Program Spring Semester Medical Surgical Nursing II –60 hours of theory and 135 hours of clinical –Content focus on acute health disorders –Must pass theory and clinical to pass course and graduate

LPN to RN ADN Program Management of Client Care –30 hours of theory and 45 hours of clinical –Must pass theory and clinical to pass course –Combination of all content taught throughout the program with a focus on leadership and focus content review identified by ATI proctored tests

LPN to RN ADN Program NCLEX Review II –30 hours of theory –Preparation for NCLEX-RN® –Includes an online course by NCSBN –ATI Learning System and Nursing Logic –RN Comprehensive Predictor requires 95% to receive assigned points –Must pass this course to graduate

LPN to RN ADN Program A syllabus is provided for each course Late or missed assignments will be assigned a zero unless specified in syllabus Concepts map which counts in clinical can cause failure in course if not completed as required Grading scales are provided in syllabi

LPN to RN ADN Program Tardiness for class/clinical unacceptable (policy in handbook) Plagiarizing or cheating can cause dismissal from program Classroom etiquette and confidentiality Clinical expected behaviors must practice within scope as students RN not LPN

LPN to RN ADN Program Must have access to computer and internet after hours Student responsible for transportation to and from clinical and other events Clinical sites are NWMRMC, BMC, Baptist in Oxford, TriLake Behavioral Health, WC, CC, HD, AEH, and CAPPS

LPN to RN ADN Program Nursing Summit and Board of Nursing Hearing annually in January and February MOSA- student organization participation annually in March (scrap book and Tee Shirt, Scholar Bowl competition) Criminal background check annually in April TB Certification annually in May

LPN to RN ADN Program Use of ATI Resources Assignments must be done as specified by instructor Student are required to spend a minimum of 30 minutes per ATI assignment ATI Proctored tests- Students must complete practice tests prior to taking proctored test

LPN to RN ADN Program Financial Responsibility –Student responsible for paying cost of education –Must go to Financial Aid –Scholarship (Rural Health) –Cost of program listed in letter and on website –Failure to pay on account will result in removal from courses

LPN to RN ADN Program Grading Scale: Points generated from unit tests and final exam (rounding only done at the end must be.50 or higher before rounding up.49 or less will not be rounded) Example: Unit tests = 90% and 1 final exam = 10% (average of daily grades added to lowest test score) Points generated from ATI proctored test added to final exam; must have level 2 or above to receive points

How to be Successful in ADN Program Must be self and internally motivated Review what lifestyle changes need to be made to succeed in ADN Program Address barriers and challenges that will impede success in program promptly Keep up with class and college calendar Do as much as you can ahead of schedule to decrease stress

Addressing Risk of failure in ADN Program Students need to meet with advisor and student navigator at the first sign for risk of being unsuccessful in program Student can withdrawn prior to designated time set by college If student desires to readmit to program must meet deadline for application process (March 31 see Student Handbook)
