Presentation 101

Structure your presentation with PURPOSE  Make sure that there is logical order  Slide order should follow the order of presentation

Write clearly and concisely

Images and transitions should not distract from your presentation

Budget is key, and Excel is helpful 1.Budget for completed project 2.Assign $ amounts to individual steps 3.Make a plan for how to acquire funds 4.Be reasonable and detailed 5.INCLUDE THE BUDGET IN YOUR POWERPOINT

Allow each team member to shine! Designing and giving the presentation are equally important. Take advantage of each member’s strengths and weaknesses!

Time management is essential  Approach the stage quickly  Greet judges appropriately - Shake hands, but be efficient  Transition between speakers smoothly Think of time as an asset, not a fear.

Focus on all judging criteria equally  Judging criteria are equally weighted - Make sure to plan accordingly to satisfy all criteria  Consider timing your slides

Have a “quick exit” plan  Practice makes perfect.  More time spent on part of the presentation steals time from another part.  Do not panic! Make key points quickly if strapped for time.  Time Queues at the --- marks.

“Q&A” enhances your pitch  Brainstorm probable questions and responses  Use time efficiently  Ask each other questions before the presentation  Scrutinize presentation for weak points- often what judges target!  Make sure that all team members are experts on all facets of the presentation  Answer clearly and concisely
