Establishing the GCI “The Initial Operating Capability phase (IOC) will last for up to 12 months, with a target launch date in May 2008.” “The IOC will allow the community to gain practical experience with many issues that have been under discussion during the early development of the GCI” Key issues: long-term cost implications, systems operations and maintenance, proprietary vs. open-source concerns, single vs. multiple Portals and Clearinghouses, access procedures, … and user community requirements.

Initial Operating Capability IOC should start by end of May 2008 Letter of announcement – draft from Geo Sec –Evaluation –Registration of components, services, standards and best practices Task Force being defined and ToR for review by all committees Tactical and Strategic Guidance Documents available for providers to register services

IOC Task Force (Proposals) ADC: Pearlman, DeLoatch, Shibasaki, Annoni, Petiteville CBC: Hilcea Santos Ferreira, Gordon Bridge, Alan Edwards UIC: Gary Foley, LeDrew S&T: Stuart Marsh, David Halpern

IOC User Feedback for GCI A user feedback form has been prepared and being discussed. Implementation planned for early June via GEO website
