Reality Town  How is this going to happen?  When is this going to happen?

 This will happen at Reality Town on Tuesday, October 18th.

Reality Town will be held in 2 sessions. The Geography classes from periods 1, 2, & 7 will attend the first session at 8:00.

Reality Town will be held in 2 sessions. The Geography classes from periods 3, 4, 5, & 6, will attend the second session at 10:15

Reality Town  Reality Town is a glimpse into THE Real World.  One with jobs,  Responsibilities,  And bills!

Reality Town  This is a glimpse into your future so you can begin to plan now.

Reality Town  You will spend 2 hours in the WHMS gym making lifestyle and budget decisions.

Reality Town  Since we don't know exactly what the future holds, many things were assigned at random.

These Include  How many kids you have.  Whether or not your spouse works.

Reality Town  The Career you have is based on your Grade Point Average

Reality Town  This not the way it must be, but just a glimpse into what adult life is like.

Reality Town  What do I do in Reality Town?

Reality Town  You will enter Reality Town by going in the southwest doors (by the auditorium).

Reality Town  As you enter the gym, you will pick up your individual packet for Reality Town.

Reality Town  Packets will be divided by geography teacher and period.

Reality Town  On your packet, it will give you information about your possible life at 30.

Reality Town  Read your packet carefully!

Reality Town  Some of you have a spouse who stays home and doesn’t work.  This means you save on child care.

Reality Town  Some of you have a spouse who goes to school.  This means they may contribute more income in the future.

Reality Town  Some of you have a spouse who works.  This means you have a higher income.

Reality Town  Each student scenario will be unique because occupations, children, and spouses will differ.

Reality Town  Once you have your packet and have determined how much you have to spend…

Reality Town  You begin visiting the businesses and buying services and goods.

Reality Town  You will select a package. Many businesses have different options.  Some options cost more than others.  Consider your income at all times!

Reality Town  After you pick your option, write a check.  Fill in your check register.  Once you pay, someone at the booth will initial your packet.

Reality Town  What if I run out of Money?

Reality Town  Make sure your plan before you begin spending so you don’t run out of money.

Reality Town  If you run into a problem, visit the SOS booth.  Get help at Financial Planning!

Reality Town  What are some of the businesses?

CHILD CARE  Pay for someone to care for your children whether it is because of work or you need a night out.

COMMUNICATIONS  Options include a telephone, cell phone, internet, cable TV, and more.

LIFES UNEXPECTED EXPERIENCES  You will draw a card. This simulates those events in life that adults have to deal with.  Some are good, others are not so good.

TRANSPORTATION  You will select a car and make the payment.  This also includes paying for gas and upkeep on both cars.

 Plus many more.  The complete list of businesses with descriptions is included in your packet.

Reality Town  Once you visit all the businesses, hand in your packet and check book at the table where you picked them up.

Reality Town  Is Reality Town a glimpse of how your life must turn out?

Reality Town  NO!  You control your own future and will make your own choices.

Reality Town  Make Reality Town a learning experience.  Make it a turning point for making good choices.

Reality Town  Make the Reality of your future bright!  Make good career plans.

Reality Town  Remember to bring a pen to write checks with.  A full grocery ad will save you 10% on your food bill.
