Define Flyover., A flyover is a structure which connects two points which are already accessible and is really flying over or across manmade structures viz., road, railway,building, street.

D/B Bridge & Flyover  A bridge is a structure which connects two points separated by a natural phenomena viz., river,valley, sea, any other water body.  A flyover is a structure which connects two points which are already accessible and is really flying over or across manmade structures viz., road, railway,building, street.

Flyover in Shanghai, China  Shanghai is the largest city of china and the world. It has a wide and heavy network of road transport which connects all the major cities with each other.  It is located in eastern China. Shanghai has a rich collection of buildings and structures of various architectural styles.  Shanghai has one of the best flyovers in puxi, Nanbei Elevated Road at Yanan Middle Road.

Dallas developed a strong industrial and financial sector, and a major inland port.  Flyovers in Dallas are very helpful to reduce the surging traffic pressure on its boring road. The Central Express is also called the High Five Interchanges and currently one of the few 5-level interchange in Dallas and is one of the largest freeway interchanges in the USA.  The $261 millions project began in 2002 and was completed in December 2005.

Advantage & Disadvantage of Flyover  Provides for two-phase signals with short cycle lengths, significantly reducing delay.  Reduced horizontal curvature reduces risk of off-road crashes.Increases the capacity of turning movements to and from the ramps.  May potentially reduce the number of lanes on the crossroad, minimizing impacts to existing right-of-way.  Substantially reduces the number of conflict points, thus theoretically improving safety.  Theoretically improves pedestrian safety.  Increases the capacity of an existing overpass or underpass, by removing the need for turn lanes.
