SOHO December 2, 1995 UV & Magnetic Optical Information Eight Instruments

Important Instruments EIT– Extreme Ultraviolet Imaging Telescope ERNE – Energetic & Relavistic Nuclei & Electron Experiment GOLF – Global Oscillatious at Low Frequencies

Functions of Important Instruments EIT– studies the low coronal structure and activity ERNE – studies the ion and electron composition of the solar wind GOLF -- measures velocity variations of the whole solar disk to explore the core of the sun

SOHO

Images taken with EIT at different wavelengths from 24 April The device is sensitive to these four wavelengths. EIT is built as a single telescope with a quadrant structure to the entrance mirrors: each quadrant reflects a different colour of EUV light, and the wavelength to be observed is selected by a shutter that blocks light from all but the desired quadrant of the main telescope.
