Diabetes in the DRC Program Work you will do: – Collect plants from forest and savana – Prepare plant extracts at the National Institute of Biomedical Research – Measure blood glucose of diabetic patients after ingestion of the plant extract at the Medical Center Muinda – Analyze and interpret the clinical data – Conduct a screening for diabetes campaign in Kinshasa – Investigate the sale of natural medicinal products at open markets – Visit two to three traditional medicine practices Fun things you will do: – Visit the Bonobo Sanctuary – Go to a soccer game – Visit the second largest Botanical Garden in the DRC – Go to the 4 th of July party at the Residence of the US Ambassador in the DRC
