Presented in partnership with Shaking the Money Tree May 18, 2000

“Hosting ‘Shaking the Money Tree’ has increased the visibility of GCATT in the venture capital community. We are becoming the premier place to do deals in Atlanta and we’re gaining valuable exposure for our incubator companies.” Dr. Michael Cummings, Director of GCATT

We’ve seen a visible difference in the program in the year since it started. The growth in numbers is remarkable. We’re proud to be cosponsors. It gives us “air time” before the entrepreneurs and investors. It’s a closed setting; you don’t feel like you’re going to get pitched. It gives us exposure to other entrepreneurs. It’s nice to see all the geographic specifics. It gives the presentation a real home-town feel. The best value is the networking time with investors. There’s a real start-up atmosphere…it’s a community event…a celebration for Georgia. We’re always comparing ourselves to Silicon Valley. I like the way you guys bring in the two venture capitalists; it gives entrepreneurs exposure to them. You keep getting marquee names too. We pitch “Shaking” to our entrepreneurs. We tell them, “Not only are you going to learn, you’ll see the trends and where the money is flowing.” We’ve seen business plans changed based on the information you present. They also figure out the VC profiles and what’s their way of thinking. Tony Antoniades, ATDC
