Grass Roots Pressure Group Activity Kara & Oli Ordinary members of a group or organisation partaking in activities

Grass Roots Activity Can Include: Hosting house meetings or parties Having larger meetings—AGMs Putting up posters Talking with pedestrians on the street or walking door-to-door (often involving informational clipboards) Gathering signatures for petitions Mobilizing letter-writing, phone-calling, and ing campaigns Setting up information tables Raising money from many small donors for political advertising or campaigns Organizing large demonstrations Asking individuals to submit opinions to media outlets and government officials Holding get out the vote activities, which include the practices of reminding people to vote and transporting them to polling places. Using online social networks to organize virtual communities

Examples: Anti Abortion Violence: – August 1982: Three men identifying as the Army of God kidnapped Hector Zevallos (a doctor and clinic owner) and his wife, Rosalee Jean, holding them for eight days – August 19, 1993: Dr. George Tiller was shot outside of an abortion facility in Wichita, Kansas.
