History  The story or record of what has happened in the past

Oral Tradition  Passing on history, beliefs, or customs by the word of mouth

Artifact  An object made by someone in the past

Primary sources  A first-hand account of an event or an artifact created during a period of history being studied

Secondary Sources  Records of the past that are based on studies of primary sources

Decision  A choice made from a number of alternatives

Archaeology  The study of the remains of past cultures

Prehistory  The period before events were recorded in writing

Early People and Agriculture Changes the World

 21 The LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them. 22 And the LORD God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. Technology  The use of skills and tools to meet practical human needs

Old Stone Age  The period of human prehistory during which stone tools were the most common technology used by humans.

Hunter-Gatherers  A person of the Old Stone Age who met needs by hunting animals and gathering plants

Artifacts in Border Cave  Border Cave is located in Zululand, South Africa  Cave paintings were found in this Cave  This gives us an idea of the hunter-gatherer life style

Daily Opener  What can cave paintings teach us about the past?

Agriculture  The raising of crops and animals for human use.

New Stone Age  The period of human prehistory in which people still depended on stone tools and began experimenting with agriculture

Domesticate  To train plants or animals to be useful to people

Daily Opener  What new idea led to hunter and gatherers to be able to start settling down into cities?
