WHAT WE WOULD LIKE TO ACHIEVE

POPULATION ESTIMATION TASK FORCE (PET) Different organizations, working in the field, with population estimation data come together to compare available estimation at village/district level Attempts to provide commonly agreed estimated figures (non-registered displaced Syrians) Aim to support programming and further assessment (i.e. profiling exercise) Next meeting will be call on 25 th February 2013

SHELTER Continuous degradation of the shelter situation with an increase of Self- collective shelters in unfinished buildings without adequate sanitation; Steep increase of shelter rent is confirmed in all regions due to high demand; Saida University site guest a total of 125 families

Many vulnerable families are in the incapacity to afford their rent, cash assistance should prevent families to be expelled Shelter conditions are often appalling and below minimum standards, unfinished houses and building are being rented, sealing off intervention provide the emergency assistance needed Significant expansion of informal tented settlements in the Bekaa and in the North as one coping mechanism to affordable shelters. Large increase is expected at the end of the winter season. Mapping and assistance is on- going. Non recognition by authorities, location in flooded areas and poor sanitation are key issues. SHELTER

Continue emergency shelter interventions + Wash. More focus on collective centres is through partners systematically identifying buildings for rehabilitation in their areas of intervention. Develop transit shelter capacity with buildings and transit sites under identification. SHELTER in 2013

WASH WASH sector strategy was finalized and shared on 5 Feb 2013 Rapid assessment report on (WASH, Shelter and Food Security) by Solidarites International in North Lebanon was shared. Technical working group on water, sanitation, hygiene and WASH sector specific contingency plan continue to work on developing technical briefings.

The large number of beneficiaries in an urban setting living among residents, dispersed across all sections of cities and towns. The magnitude of the response: Multiple assistance projects implemented through a number of actors. Challenge for the monitoring and tracking of assistance. The Refugee Assistance Information System (RAIS) assists with tracking and reporting on assistance provided WHY DO WE NEED RAIS?
