Zero to Clustered Sametime Deployment During Your Happy Hour. Brad Boston and Jeff Miller / Feb 3 rd 2016

Please Note: IBM’s statements regarding its plans, directions, and intent are subject to change or withdrawal without notice at IBM’s sole discretion. Information regarding potential future products is intended to outline our general product direction and it should not be relied on in making a purchasing decision. The information mentioned regarding potential future products is not a commitment, promise, or legal obligation to deliver any material, code or functionality. Information about potential future products may not be incorporated into any contract. The development, release, and timing of any future features or functionality described for our products remains at our sole discretion. Performance is based on measurements and projections using standard IBM benchmarks in a controlled environment. The actual throughput or performance that any user will experience will vary depending upon many factors, including considerations such as the amount of multiprogramming in the user’s job stream, the I/O configuration, the storage configuration, and the workload processed. Therefore, no assurance can be given that an individual user will achieve results similar to those stated here.

Brad Boston Our focus should not only on be on problem resolution but on total customer satisfaction. Senior Consultant – Field Support Engineer  Focus will be Sametime architectures, deployments, and enablement Product Area Expert  Sametime Collaboration Software  IBM Traveler Mobile  IBM iSereis

Jeff Miller Work Smarter, not Harder! Senior Software Engineer – IBM Productivity Team  Previous 18+ years Sametime Development  Automation, Deployment Development Expert  Sametime  Continuous Integration/Continuous Development

What we will learn Installs can be much faster than what you have done in the past. We can do most of the configuration at the time of install. Your labs can be exact duplicates of production. Upgrades become lightning fast. We have the option to install to physical hardware, a cloud, or anything in between. You can access the information you see here today as software or as a service

Faster Installs Non-Clustered environment – 2.5 hours  SSC  Community server  Meetings  Media  Sametime Proxy  Sametime Advanced

Faster Installs Clustered environment - 5 Hours  SSC  Community server Cluster  Meetings Cluster  Media Cluster  Sametime Proxy Cluster  Sametime Advanced Cluster

Servers are configured at the time of install The following is taken care of by the install  Federation of nodes  DB2 database creation  Server clustering  Federation of Tivole LDAP repository  Enable Android mobile clients

Duplicate Environments and Portability Production on a mix of physical hardware and VM's Lab environment is in the cloud Your new test environment is a hybrid of VM and an external cloud It all works and they can all be the same

Requirements IBM UrbanCode Deploy (UCD)  This is the special sauce that lets us automate the installation of the pieces Compatible Operating systems  Red Hat Linux 6  Windows 2008 R2 For Windows we need ibm-java-jre-70-win-x86_64 A production LDAP environment capable of handling the load from the Sametime environment

Requirements Simple installation worksheet On Windows we need to run the following commands  winrm quickconfig  winrm set  winrm set  winrm set

Requirements Verify that no lines of "ulimit -n xxxxx" are in the following files  /etc/profile  /etc/bashrc  ~/.bashrc  ~/.bash_profile It is imperative that the system is using the values from /etc/security/limits.conf

Requirements Verify that no lines of "ulimit -n xxxxx" are in the following files  /etc/profile  /etc/bashrc  ~/.bashrc  ~/.bash_profile It is imperative that the system is using the values from /etc/security/limits.conf

The worksheet We need a spreadsheet with the following info from you  Server Purpose  Server Name  Server OS  DNS Host name  Static IP Address  Load balancer Host name  Load balancer IP

Configuring the UCD environment Installing and configuring the agent Discovering the agents Creating the environment Adding the Base resource Request Process

Installing and configuring the Agent Non default agent settings  You will only need an agent relay if the UCD server can not connect to the agents directly on port 7918  You will need to give the agent the host name of the UCD server and not use the local host  When naming the agents they must all start with the same suffix (eg, - stcommunity-acme, stmeetings-acme)  Have the agent run as a service and start automatically until we are done with the install  On Linux you will have to start the agent manually

Discovering the agents Goto Resources->Agents Enter the agent-suffix from in the Name field

Creating the Environment Go To Applications- >Sametime Single Instance Deployment Click Create Environment Fill in Name: agent-suffix Select “Sametime Cluster Blueprint” from the Blueprints Click Set to choose your base resource.

Adding the Base Resource When selecting Base Resource after you click Set, you need to choose the Resource In our Case “Test US” Create Base Resource under Resources->Resource Tree and create Top-Level Group

Request Deployment Request a Process run on Environment. Select “Deploy” process Select Choose Versions to select versions to use. Click “Submit”

Choosing Versions Select the versions of each component you wish to install. Select OK after selecting all Versions.

Running the Install Video

Results Final results from uDeploy Live Demo  Presentation machine  Tablet  Meeting with Video

Upgrading a deployed environment Video

What needs to be configured after the install SSL Security Tokens if integrating into another SSO environment DB2 Clustering Non-Tivoli LDAP Federation – During install Policy settings LDAP optimization

How do you put this into practice Field Support Service days  We come in, do the work, and take the UCD server components with us when we go.  We will keep a copy of your deployment on file for when we come back for future upgrades.  AVL to provide dinner during the install
