Paraphrasing Using My Own Words!

What do I do when I need to paraphrase ? Paraphrasing means putting what you have read into your own words. You paraphrase by reading something, thinking about what it means, and then restating it in your own words. Paraphrasing is a useful strategy to check to be sure that you have understood when reading something difficult or something that is important to remember. If you cannot paraphrase after reading, it is important to go back and reread to clarify the information. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY...

When responding to a question or prompt... You may NOT copy exactly what the text says unless you cite the source. You have to put it in your own words. Your have to make sure you give your reader the same message without copying “Verbatim” - Changing a couple of words. -Deleting a couple words or phrases. -Rearranging the order of the words
