 Must take Academic English placement exam to enroll in AE course  Offers courses in academic writing, reading and vocabulary development, pronunciation, conversation, and grammar  Academic English 20A-D  Must complete these within six quarters  Academic English

 Lower division writing courses must be completed with a “C” or better, or a “Pass”  Must complete lower division writing requirement by the beginning of the seventh quarter following the completion of AE/ESL courses  Lower division writing courses MUST be taken at UCI Lower Division Writing Grade

 ECP is compulsory for all international students in ICS  Helps international students practice conversational English  1.3 units for Pass/No Pass  No exams!  To sign up, go to ECP--English Conversation Program

 HIGHLY recommended!  Helps international students learn about American culture and tips about how to be academically and socially successful at UCI  1.3 units for Pass/No Pass  No exams!  To sign up, go to I-STEPS International Students Transitioning to Educational and Personal Success

 Students may take only 12 units as P/NP option during their ENTIRE time at UCI  Academic English courses and other courses offered only as P/NP option do count as part of the 12 units Pass/Non Pass (P/NP) Policy

 Students are eligible for 16 units of repetition for courses they wish to retake  The new grade will replace the previous GPA  However, the original grade will always remain / show up on the official transcript; it does not disappear! Course Repetition Policy

 All courses that are required for your major MUST be taken for a letter grade! Letter Grade Policy

 This requirement may be fulfilled if you have one year of formal schooling at the sixth grade level or higher at an institution where the language of instruction is not English  Documentation needed  Visit Peer Academic Advisor to update your degree audit General Education Category VI: Language other than English
