THE LIFE OF MALCOLM X By Joshua Byrom

MALCOLM’S EARLY LIFE Malcolm X was born May 19 th His father was a minister. In 1929 a racist mob set fire to his family’s house. His father was found dead 2 years later. His mom never got over his father’s death and was put in a mental hospital.

WHAT MALCOLM X IS FAMOUS FOR  Malcolm went to prison in 1946 for stealing.  While he was in prison Malcolm became a member of the Nation of Islam.  He changed his last name to “X” because he felt it was a slave name.  He did not believe in the non-violent way of protesting for equal rights.  His most famous quote is “By any means necessary”.  He left the Nation of Islam and after his visit to Mecca, he became a traditional Muslim and changed his name to El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz.

CHARACTER TRAITS  Malcolm X was a gifted man.  He was articulate.  He was a gifted and inspirational speaker.  He was passionate about equal rights for Black people.
