PLANNING Planning “is the process of thinking about and organizing the activities required to achieve strategic objectives”. Example: Business plan Planning involves: Forecasting Allocating Strategies (Boundless, 2015)

ORGANIZING Organizing is “creating patterns of relationship among workers and make optimal use of resources to accomplish objectives”. Example: grouping tasks into departments Organizing involves: Controlling Delegating (Boundless, 2015)

STAFFING Staffing “is the act of recruiting, selecting, developing and training employees”. Example: Providing training Staffing involves: Recruitment Selecting Training (Chand,2015)

LEADING Leading “is the ability to influence and motivate employees to achieve company’s goals”. Example: Rewarding best employees (Barnat,2014)

CONTROLLING Control is “a systematic effort to compare to predetermined standards and address deficiencies.” Control is a: Continuous process Management process Tool for achieving organizational activities (Boundless, 2015)

DIRECTING Directing is style where employees are told what to do, when to do it and how to do it. (Freifeld, 2013)

DELEGATING Delegating style promotes self learning. This means that the manager assigns tasks to workers to take responsibilities through searching ways in which the work can be accomplished. (Freifeld, 2013)

DISCUSSING Discussing style promotes interaction between managers and employees and they can give their point of view in the work. (Freifeld, 2013)
